This Saturday I performed at the Groucho Club, Soho, London for a corporate Christmas party. I was asked to play two sets of solo piano and the last set accompanying a saxophonist.

Gary Numan Set

I was asked to play two hours of Gary Numan tunes, solo piano, for an event at the Lisson Gallery, Edgeware Road, London in 2010 - I've only just got round to editing the audio from the event.

I only had a week to learn as many Gary Numan Tunes as possible, but then, halfway through the gig, the directors asked me to play just Are Friends Electric, over and over again ! Hence the long, extended improvised version below - check the other tracks too - it went down very well !

Jazz Trio at a Wedding in Essex

Last Sunday, a jazz trio comprising of trumpet, piano and electric bass performed in a marquee for a wedding party in Essex. It went down very well with everyone.

We were put on the spot a little bit when the hosts asked us at the very last minute to play something 'romantic' or 'dramatic' when the bride and groom walked in. It was clear that this was very important to them but they really weren't sure what to ask for. It was a fun challenge ! (We repeated the opening bars of Nostalgia in Times Square over and over for about 15 minutes, getting quieter and quieter till we almost weren't playing it, then when they walked in, blasted out the rest of the tune !)

There was an asian band waiting to perform that included a tabla player, who jammed with us on a few tracks and to everyone's delight, their singer performed Summertime with us.

Keith plays drums here but he is also a fantastic double bass player - in fact, that's his first instrument.

Jazz vocals duo

I was recently asked by a major charity about providing a vocals / piano duo for their 20th Annual General Meeting in November.

I emailed them youtube clips of me performing with four great singers, each with their own style, and asked them to make their preference before I see who's available.

They've yet to make a choice, but tell me they really enjoy the process of choosing.

Physical Theatre - Clowning about

A year or so ago I was fortunate enough to be hired as the pianist for The Popcorn Club, with the fantastically talented Kate McKenzie and Chris Lynam. This included a variety of performers singing, dancing, doing comedy and also mime clowning, circus skills and physical theatre.



My favourite sketch was with midget clown Daniel Gonçalves.

Maja Szymczyk / Alex Windsor, Jazz Vocals Piano Duo

I've recently been lucky enough to work with the fantastic Polish jazz singer Maja Szymczyk on a few dates at a jazz cafe in Stoke Newington.

The venue is Ajani Grill and Jazz Place has recently opened and have been putting on some fantastic live music.
